Project 1-The Style Advancer
Client #1: Ms. Jessica Brown
Ms.Jessica Brown is a 34 year pastry chef living in Seattle. She got her degree at a culinary school in Europe, and then moved to Seattle to follow her passion. She makes a comfortable living, making $35,000 per year. She is currently living with her boyfriend of 3 years, but has no children. She has a very liberal approach to life and as well as politics. She enjoys spending time at Starbucks, refueling for a day at her job or simply reading a good book. She also loves to attend live events and festivals, and loves going to the food fair and farmer’s market. Her style revolves around the city that she lives in. Seattle is notoriously known to be a very rainy and windy city, and Jessica’s go-to piece is her Burberry trench coat. The coat has leather details that she also incorporates into her brown leather bag that is big and spacious for her on the go lifestyle. Small heeled booties with gold details and a bright patterned scarf complete her simple yet chic look.

She frequently attends benefit dinners and galas where she is constantly socializing. She has a love for tennis and lives a liberal opinion. Her style reflects that of her social status, and can be compared to Carolina Herrera. She loves to wear a long flowey skirt, cinched at the waist, with a classic white button down. She accessorizes with flats because working in a gallery she values her comfort. She is never seen without her luxurious jewels which add an elevated sense of taste that reflect her character.

The silhouette that I have chosen is an hourglass that is contoured by the slim fit of the garments, and the emphasized waist. There are 2 vertical lines that go down the length of the skirt which indeed lengthen the body. It is important to note that they are curved, which adds even more to the feminine silhouette that I want to achieve. The proportions of this outfit are easily noticed, the upper half is cut-off at the waist, while the lower half extends to below the knees. Although the upper half is darker in shade, the lower half still takes over most of the volume. I chose this outfit and silhouette because I have a natural hourglass figure and emphasizing it makes me feel more feminine and confident. I think the below the knee pencil skirt keeps the outfit classy and sophisticated, while the crop top brings a fresh approach to it. It can be quite versatile, and can be dressed down like in the picture with flats and a cropped jacket, but also dressed up with pumps and a sleek blazer. I tend to have a lot of skirts in my closet because they are versatile and can be worn in different circumstances, which makes them easily transferable from lifestyle cluster to another. I love color, and the blue of the skirt makes the color statement that I like to have, while the black tones it down so that it is not over the top.
Outfit #1: Pattern mixed with solid
Outfit #2: Solid mixed with contrast
Outfit #3: Tonal color mixed with texture
Outfit #4: Color mixed with same color
Color is something that I am not afraid to use and experiment with in my fashion choices so this assignment was not challenging for me. The silhouettes I have chosen for the most part play up my hourglass body type. For example, if I have a loose fitting top, I will tuck it in to emphasize my waist. When it comes to patterns, I stay away from there for the most part with the exception of leopard print, which I had to include. Overall, my outfits are coming from my school and casual lifestyle cluster because that is the one I am most comfortable in, and have the most choices in.
